Griffin Club

Griffin Club South Portland

Griffin Club in South Portland is a long time locals bar located just over the "Million Dollar Bridge" in South Portland in the general Mill Creek/Knightville neighborhoods.

Spring Point Tavern

Spring Point Tavern South Portland

If you're an SMCC student or teacher for that matter, Spring Point Tavern is someplace you either like or hate. I can't use the word love, just due to the condition of the bar. Basically they have beer, drinks and they do live music and karaoke. I've never actually been here to do any beer drinking so I cannot comment to the nighttime experience going here.

RJ's Pub

RJ's Pub South Portland Maine

R J's Pub in South Portland Maine, just down the street from the other very locals only bar, the Griffin Club. Not a bad place, just pretty simple overall. Few beers on draft, simple daily specials and a very simple layout. Not bad really, but I would have to say for myself, I'd take the cab over the bridge into the Old Port for my beer drinking.

Stockhouse

Stockhouse Westbrook Maine

The Stockhouse in Westbrook is really the only sports bar in Westbrook. It's not like the bars in town Portland and that's something I really like about this place. The walls aren't dark colors, the bar and tables are clean and not beaten up. There is more than sufficient space to move around and to have large parties when the big games are on.

Morrill's Corner pub

The Beers you Need, The Prices you Want

The Morril's Corner Pub is a locals establishment. This place has very few windows, and is very, very dark inside. Remember they banned smoking inside bars and restaurants in Maine? well, you'd never know it when you come in here, the smell is as authentic as you can imagine. Interesting Paintings on the wall, horse shoe's out back, and a simple tap list.

Station, The

The Station Portland Maine

The Station, located on St. John's at the Union Station plaza, is certainly Portland's only bar located in the basement of a hardware store. This pool hall/bar/music venue may be hard to find located underneath Maine Hardware, but it can be a fun place to see a show and enjoy a very well rounded tap listing.

Matthew's

Matthew's Portland Maine

Matthews on Free St. advertises itself as the "Oldest pub in Portland". Not sure if they mean oldest average age? or it's had it's liqueur license the longest. Either way it's there, they serve beer, and you can go almost any waking hour to grab a drink.

Ernie's Pub

Ernie's Pub Portland Maine

Ernie's Pub on Forest Avenue is mainly a pool hall and Donna behind the bar would like to make sure everyone knows that. One thing that is important to say, they have a ping pong table, I'll repeat that, a Ping Pong table. I know that there is going to be some interest in knowing that you can have a Natural Light in hand and play some pong.

Howie's Pub

Howie's Pub Portland Maine

Howie's Pub right under the on/off ramp for Washington Ave. A real neigborhood bar with great beer prices and a friendly atmosphere. Parking is limited so I recommend biking. Cash only with ATM inside

Frosty Pint, The

Frosty Pint Portland maine

The Frosty Pint is a great spot to hit after work. Great deals on beer and mixed drinks. The Owner is a Service Disabled Veteran, he came home after 13 years in the US Air Force and this bar was his dream. He used to watch Cheers as a kid with his dad and wants The Frosty Pint to have that neighborhood feel.
